Chapter 1. Image to Object, Illustration to Costume: Cosplayers and Cosplay ‘Ways of Seeing’ Manga, written by Claire Langsford, explores the processes of (re)creation of manga cosplays, charting the cosplayer’s transformation of an illustration into a costume.

Music score and recordings

Chapter 7. Finding Music in Manga: Exploring Yaoi through Contemporary Piano Composition, written by Paul Smith, draws upon the composition of a piece of piano music, Tides of Falling Leaves, which responds to material within the yaoi manga genre. The chapter details the way manga informed this creative process and how the music acts as a way of remediating the visual gestures unique to manga.
